Summary
According to an old but still used expression, Roma people constitute the “seventy-two and a half” nation, along with the seventy-two nations of the world. Half a Cook is a comprehensive study on Roma people, spread across seven regions of Turkey by Elmas Arus and her husband Haluk Arus, who are also of Romani origin, and covering thirty-eight provinces. The documentary Gypsies tells the story of the lives, cultural differences, social orders, traditions and contradictions among themselves, social, cultural and economic dilemmas of the Roms, Loms and Doms all over Turkey.
Elmas ARUS
Born in Amasya in 1979. Graduated from Trakya University Radio and Television Broadcasting Department and Istanbul University Communication Faculty Journalism Department. Due to being a Roma during his university years, he became interested in the subject of Roma and started working on the documentary called Buçuk at that time.
H. Haluk ARUS
Born in Istanbul in 1971. After graduating from Anadolu University Radio and TV Technique Department in 1996, he started working as an editor in various TV series. He and his wife Elmas Arus completed their first film, <göçün türküsü=""> in 2008. </göçün>
